Our Values

At the core of all we do is community.

And at the core of community is belonging. We are dedicated to working together to co-create an organization that provides a welcoming, inclusive space for all Yukoners to bring their ideas to life. We’re passionate about how ideas can build a brighter, more sustainable, more inclusive future for us all.

We firmly believe social connections are essential for the health of businesses and people. We proudly offer a supportive, collaborative and creative space to try stuff out. We encourage people to invite others into their dreams and to share their vision because by working together, and learning from one another, we can all reach our full potential.

We give people access to workspace, tools, information and networks that open doors for their potential. Our culture is welcoming, friendly and helpful. We share our skills and expertise to inspire people to turn their ideas into reality. We help people and their businesses grow. When people do what they love, it makes our world a better place.

We embrace change and we like to take risks. We’re OK with failure – that’s how we all learn. We’re persistent and flexible. We’re comfortable asking questions and getting honest answers. We’re disruptive. To get to the next level we understand that rules may need to be broken. Sometimes true innovation requires that we tear it all down and start over.

We love to help people create– ideas, businesses, objects or machines. With an open mind, we look at things from differing perspectives. Solving problems is a passion for us, and we’re always looking for new ways to tackle challenges as we uphold our commitment to having fun and staying weird.

We value diversity and the power, energy and innovation that different ideas and people bring. We acknowledge and honour the fundamental value and dignity of all people. In all we do, we will relentlessly pursue diversity and inclusion, and we will strive to be a place that is open and welcoming to all.

Our Community Policies

You are welcome at Yukonstruct, and we want others to feel welcome too!

All members and guests at NorthLight Innovation are required to abide by our Yukonstruct Community Policies. These policies include a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination, harassment, or bullying of any kind. If you would like to resolve an issue or report a concern, you can take the following steps:

  1. You can make an informal complaint by raising the issue with one of our staff members. We will work collaboratively with you to understand and resolve the issue.
  2. You can make a formal complaint by putting your complaint in writing, and giving it to a member of our staff. You can also send your complaint directly to Yukonstruct’s board by emailing board@yukonstruct.com. The next steps of this process will be decided on a case-by-case basis.
  3. If you would like to share anonymous feedback or experiences to help us improve, you can do so by using this Feedback Form.
Our commitment to creating an inclusive, diverse and welcoming space.

In fall 2020, the Yukonstruct board of directors established a task force composed of Yukonstruct board members, staff members and community members to assess how well we were doing in our goal to create a safe, welcoming and inclusive space for all. The results revealed the opportunity for us to improve.

The task force then ran a series of focus groups, to better understand the experiences of LGBTQIA2S+, People of Colour and Indigenous Yukoners in our community and our spaces. Out of this work, a series of short term and long term recommendations were identified. The task force is now creating a plan of action to address the recommendations, which will be posted here when released.
