Bat house building workshop with Yukon Wildlife Viewing

11 August 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Yukon is home to several types of bats, including the endangered Little Brown Myotis. Bat houses provide safe places for Yukon bats to roost, rest and raise their young. Together with a specialist from Yukon Wildlife Viewing, we’ll learn about the biology and conservation of these small, flying mosquito-eaters, how bat houses are helpful, and where to place your bat house.

All of the pieces and tools necessary for one house per participant are provided except for dark water-based stain (painted over the exterior of the house to promote heat absorption). YuKonstruct woodworking enthusiasts will help you to properly assemble your bat house.

One ticket per person joining. We are capped to a limited number of participants due to space and social distancing limitations.

COVID-19 protocol:

  • We will ask you to wash your hands as soon as you enter the building. After you wash your hands, we encourage you not to touch your mouth or eyes while in the building.
  • We encourage you to bring and wear a fabric or dust mask, to reduce spread of anything and protect you from woodshop dust.
  • Our instructors will be wearing a fabric mask.
  • Please stay home if you are sick or have a fever, cough or shortness of breath.
