When it comes to applying a finish to a project, there is a large and sometimes confusing array of products to choose from. So come join us at Yukonstruct to learn all about applying finishes to woodworking projects.
At this workshop, we will explain some of the most commonly available finishes and discuss their advantages and disadvantages. We will practice applying finished together and you’ll learn how to get that smooth silky look that will really make your project stand out.
Finishes we will explore: Danish oil, wipe-on polyurethane, tradtional oil/varnish blends, food safe wax. If we have time, we might even get into shellac and milk paint.
If you have projects that you want to finish, please bring them along! Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty and wear closed toes shoes for the shop.
About the instructor: Colin MacDonald is a Yukonstruct volunteer and a hobbyist woodworker. He’s done his fair share of finishing and wants to share his knowledge with others.
