A functional and sustainable summer workshop!
In this fun and easy summer workshop, participants will learn to draft a tote bag onto canvas fabric, cut it out and sew it over the evening! These skills are transferable to making curtains, pillow covers or hemming pants, kick-starting your sewing journey! Have something a little odd-shaped you want a tote for, be it a baguette bag, helmet bag, tiny bag, bring it along for reference!
This workshop is designed for sewing beginners, novices or people who are a little rusty! Whatever your sewing level, you’ll come away with a great new bag.
This workshop will be hosted in Yukonstruct’s yard space, allowing participants to enjoy this experience under the beautiful Yukon summer sun, and all participants will get the option of a beer, provided by Yukon Brewing, or a non-alcoholic option to enjoy while they work.
Sewing machines, tools and fabric will be provided to all participants.
Makespace Under the Sun
Join us for a series of summer workshops under the sun at Yukonstruct’s Makespace! Come try your hand at something new, learn from Yukon makers and maybe enjoy a beer in the yard as you sew, craft, mend or make.
About the Instructor
Bec Weldon is the new Program Coordinator at the Makespace, and an enthusiastic maker in her own right! As a fire and theatre performer, at the moment she’s experimenting with sewing costumes, induction-forging fire props, creating silicone molds for prosthetic design and dabbling in some woodworking!
