School is in session, but what comes after each day?
This fall at Makespace, we are opening our doors for youth in grades 5 to 9 to allow them the opportunity to explore a little of maker culture. Over the eight-week series, participants will complete workshops across many of the featured areas of our space, including woodworking, electronics, metal shop, and digital fabrication.
During each two-hour session (3:30 PM to 5:30 PM on Wednesday afternoons), there will be staff-supported access to our tools and equipment as the youth are encouraged to try their hands at various tasks and challenges. A focus will be kept on active participation while we will prototype, analyze, destroy, and rebuild again.
All materials and required safety equipment will be provided. Participants will need to wear closed-toe shoes at all times and bring long sleeves / pants in a natural fibre for some sessions.
A participant questionnaire will be sent by email and need to be returned prior to the beginning of the series.
