Work with your hands as you complete a conservation project to increase habitat for our feathered friends!

This family workshop will have us exploring the lives of Yukon water birds, and then building a duck box to improve access to nest sites when they migrate North this Spring. A short opening presentation with Erin Nicolardi of Rivers to Ridges will start us off, and then we will be in the wood shop to construct some duck nesting boxes.
Optional family hike the following Sunday to install the boxes on appropriate trees surrounding a local lake.
About the instructor:
Erin is a certified teacher, Wilderness First Responder and amateur bird appreciator. She is interested in risk management and the benefits of risky play, bird language as a doorway to awareness, and how to create accessibility (culture, gender, ability, language, family, age, finances, etc.) for young people to take part in programs that connect them to the land. Erin grew up in Southern Ontario, and she has over 10 years of experience working outdoors with children and youth.
All materials and tools provided, some basic woodworking skills required.

Special Family: Buy one ticket and attend the workshop with your little helper*!

*Each adult can bring one youngster (ages 10+) along to join them as we learn and build.
