Esther is an artist, geologist and illustrator based in Whitehorse. She is currently working on her first graphic novel, based on the true story of a great-uncle who was part of the first French expeditions to Makalu (8,485 metres), Nepal, in 1954 and 1955.
During this lunch and learn, Esther will share some of the process and stories behind this project. It will be an opportunity to travel in space (all the way to Nepal) and time (all the way back to the fifties). You will discover some original photographs and notes from Pierre Bordet, a geologist who spent 20 years of his career mapping the Himalayan range. You will also learn about the process behind creating a graphic novel, from the original idea, research, script writing and drawing. You may even be tempted to read the book once finished!
