Do It Women is a DIY series of monthly workshops where women use tools and equipment to build projects and skills together. Beginners are welcome (and encouraged). No membership is required!
This month we focus on simple, hands-on, and surprising ways you can make your house or apartment more energy efficient so you can prolong the life of your appliances, save money, and feel empowered to take charge of your energy consumption.
This workshop will teach you how to identify air leaks, apply caulking, seal your windows, install a shower head, the ins and outs of your energy bill, and much more.
Once you’ve had a chance to try your hand at each project, you walk home with a kit filled with items to get you started on making improvements on your home. Items in the kit include: 2 LED bulbs, a heavy duty block heater timer (which we will demonstrate), a smart power bar, low flow shower head, weather stripping, and window film kit, and more.
Please bring in a recent energy bill (yours or a friend’s), a photo of your hot water tank , and note the size of your hot water tank (40 or 60 gallon).
$25 per workshop, materials included. If price is a barrier, please contact YWITT for assistance: coordinator@yukonwitt.org
DIW accrues a lengthy wait list each month. If you are unable to attend the workshop, please email victoria@yukonstruct.com so we can open up your space to someone else. Two days notice is ideal, but same day notice is also appreciated.?
YWITT offers a free onsite, hands-on activity for youth (8+) accompanying participants. If you would like to use this service, please contact YWITT to make those arrangements by Monday, January 6th: coordinator@yukonwitt.org
Snacks included!!!
