Beginner’s Soap Making Workshop

In this three hour workshop you will learn to make traditional cold process soap using natural ingredients and additives. Learn the basics about lye safety, recipe formulation, soap colourants and fragrances, and how to make soap! A variety of natural botanicals and colourants will be available for you to make your soap your own.
Each participant will come out with 8 bars of plant based soap. Our recipes will not contain animal fats, palm oil, glycerin, sulphates, or artificial fragrances.
Please bring 30 ml of essential oil of your choice (from the list below for best results).
Please choose from the following:
  • Lavender
  • Patchouli
  • Peppermint
  • Cedarwood
  • Bergamot
  • Clary Sage
  • Tea Tree
  • Grapefruit
  • Sandalwood
  • Eucalyptus
For your safety:
Please wear a long sleeve shirt, pants, and closed toed shoes. An apron can also be helpful to keep your clothes clean. Long hair will need to be tied up. Safety goggles and gloves will be provided. This workshop is appropriate for people 13 years of age or older. People under 18 require parent/guardian permission. Dates: This workshop will take place on Saturday April 27th from 12-3pm to prepare and pour your soap, and then you’ll return on Sunday April 28th from 12-1pm to cut your soap into bars.
About the instructor
Grace is a new resident to the Yukon and is excited about joining the makers’ community of our wonderful territory. She has been making soap for five years and enjoys a variety of other crafts and creative activities. She is passionate about environmental sustainability and creating in a mindful and respectful way.
