Meet Donna, Yukonstruct’s Social Media and Community Coordinator!

If you’ve spent time in the Makespace or CoSpace lately, you’ve probably seen Donna — camera in hand, chatting with members, or capturing the everyday moments that make Yukonstruct feel alive. As our Interim Social Media + Community Coordinator, she’s helping amplify the voices of makers, founders, remote workers, and creative minds across the Yukon.

We sat down with Donna to learn more about what inspires her, what she’s building, and why community storytelling matters.

Why did you join Yukonstruct?

I joined because I was looking for a role that aligned with my values: community, creativity, and telling stories that matter. After almost a decade as a Creative Director and digital marketer, I’ve helped brands across hospitality, food, beauty, wellness, and corporate spaces find their voice.

When I saw Yukonstruct was looking for someone to amplify its voice and connect the community, it felt like the perfect fit. Yukonstruct isn’t just a Makespace full of tools — it’s also a shared Cospace where people work, collaborate, and build businesses from dedicated desks and hot desks. I wanted to help share that story with the Yukon.

What do you like most about Yukonstruct being up and running?

The cross‑pollination. In one day you’ll see a maker welding in the Makespace, a founder on a hot desk pitching clients, and a Digital Nomad I’m interviewing for a new series in the Cospace. I love capturing those real moments — the conversations, the ideas, the wins — that make a community feel alive. Yukonstruct is where creativity meets work, and that’s powerful.

Why should people become Yukonstruct members?

Because you shouldn’t build alone. Membership gives you access to more than tools. You get a Makespace to build, and a Cospace to work. You get mentorship, collaboration, and a community that will cheer you on and help troubleshoot at 9pm. I’ve spent years helping brands tell their story and feel seen. The truth is the same here: when people feel supported, they do their best work – that’s what Yukonstruct offers.

What do you like to make?

I like making people feel seen and heard. That’s what I’ve done for almost a decade as a UGC creator, digital marketer, and Creative Director for my own digital service company. I do it through photos, videos, captions, blogs, and events. Whether it’s a small thriving entrepreneur, a big brand or a member’s first prototype — I look for the story that makes someone say “that’s me.”

What do you want to build at Yukonstruct?

Visibility and connection. I’m building bridges between the Makespace and the Cospace members, between Yukonstruct and the wider Yukon community. Right now that looks like the biggest show and tell –  Maker Faire Yukon and a new series interviewing the Digital Nomads working from our Cospace. My goal is to keep amplifying Yukonstruct’s voice so more people know this place exists — and more people come to create and work here.

What are you working on now?

Two big things.

First, Maker Faire Yukon — the world’s greatest show‑and‑tell North of 60. It’s a free, family‑friendly celebration of invention, creativity, and hands‑on making. I’m tasked with amplifying this event, telling the story from workshop to arena, creating traction and engagement, and helping people sign up to Build‑a‑Combat‑Robot. More information is on our website: makerfaireyukon.com.

Second, a content series spotlighting the Digital Nomads in our Cospace. I want to show how Yukonstruct supports not just makers, but remote workers and founders who have made this space their home.

Outside of Yukonstruct, I continue my work as a Creative Director for my digital marketing service, helping small businesses get seen and thrive in the social space. I’m also deeply committed to volunteering — service is at the core of who I am. I support individuals through free Bible study, helping them build happier and more meaningful lives, and I volunteer at Whitehorse General Hospital, where the connections and smiles remind me that “none of us make it through life alone without the help of others“. Giving back brings me joy, grounding, and a sense of purpose.

When you aren’t making things, what other interests take up your time?

Traveling and collecting memories — especially through travel content creation. I love exploring new places and sharing those stories in the social space for others to enjoy. Practicing gratitude, living a healthy lifestyle, and staying connected with people are the simple joys that keep me grounded.

I came to Yukonstruct looking for community, and I found so much more — a place where ideas become real, and where people feel seen while they’re making them. My goal is simple: keep amplifying Yukonstruct’s voice until every Yukoner knows this is their space to create, to work, and to belong. Whether it’s in the Makespace building a robot, or in the Cospace building a business, the story is the same. When we support each other, we all grow. I’m honored to help tell that story.
