The makerspace and co-working space moved together into their new home located on 2180 2nd Avenue.
On September 4th, 2018 – Yukonstruct Society opened the doors of NorthLight Innovation after several months of renovation to the old Super Valu grocery store on Second Avenue.
The 24,000 sq ft facility managed and operated by local non-profit Yukonstruct is now the rallying point for all of their members, consolidating their organization and services under one roof along with facility partners Yukon College and Yukon Development Corporation.
The space includes:
Makespace, the community workshop. Incorporating elements of machine shops, workshops and studios – where the maker community come together to share resources and knowledge to build and create.
Cospace, the shared workspace. Downtown Whitehorse, the hub for the Yukon’s entrepreneurial community to work, collaborate and build a strong community of visionaries.
Launchspace, a new collective initiative to foster business development and innovation in the North, including conferences, programs and business services through the Canada Business Network that help early-stage entrepreneurs in the Yukon take their ideas to the next level.
NorthLight Innovation houses 40 hot desks, 16 dedicated desks, 12 private offices, 8 studios, 1 event space, 2 classrooms, 1 boardroom, 2 meeting rooms, 2 lounge spaces, 2 woodshops, 1 metal shop, 1 digital fabrication lab, 1 sewing loft and 1 hackerspace.
