Meet the Makers is a series of interviews to help you get to know the people who are building our makerspace.
Adria Collins is our brand new Program and Volunteer Manager. We’re excited to add her experience and enthusiasm to our team!
Adria, what’s your role at YuKonstruct?
I am the Program and Volunteer Manager. What that involves is organizing workshops and events, scheduling volunteers, developing partnerships and hopefully bringing in new sponsors.
Why did you want to join YuKonstruct?
I love that Yukonstruct is a community of great people that are interested in creating! I wanted to join Yukonstruct to learn new skills, make cool things and become a handy-woman.
What do you like most about our makerspace being up and running?
The fact that anyone has access to lots of tools and equipment which they likely wouldn’t otherwise. The mentorship is another element of Yukonstruct which I think it a wonderful thing. Having members teaching members is such a great way to work together on projects.
Why should people become members?
Because it’s a great space with lots of equipment and skilled members! There isn’t an easier way to have access to informative workshops, mentors, 3D printers, welding gear and laser cutters!
What do you want to build at YuKonstruct?
So many things! I want to learn how to use all the equipment at Yukonstruct and then make all my gifts for the holidays. I can’t share more than that just in case my family sees this post!
