Meet the Makers is a series of interviews to help you get to know the people who are building our makerspace.
Seann often volunteers as “people wrangler” so if you’ve been to one of our open houses on Tuesday nights, he’s likely the first person you met.
Seann, what’s your role at YuKonstruct?
My role at Yukonstruct is that of a member. In that role I also volunteer as a site moderator a few times a week.
How did you get involved?
A friend told me about Yukonstruct while he was promoting it at the Farmers Market so I attended the grand opening. What I heard and saw then was intriguing enough that I promptly joined. After joining I started spending time and getting involved with Yukonstruct and its membership which led to volunteering to be a site moderator and doing workshops when possible.
What do you like most about being a member?
Joining Yukonstruct has enabled me to learn how to operate and use equipment, such as a laser cutter and induction forge, that I would likely never be able to access elsewhere.
As I learn and listen to the other members of Yukonstruct I find the creative juices beginning to once again flow and the desire to make things has re-emerged in my system.
What are you working on now?
At present I am in the process of making a ukulele and I’m looking forward to constructing a quadcopter.
Why should people become YuKonstruct members?
Yukonstruct is a space for anyone, of almost any age, to make almost anything they can dream up.
