Meet the Makers is a series of interviews to help you get to know the people who are building our makerspace.
Sam Fleming is one of our youngest volunteers. Find out more about how he got started with YuKonstruct below.
Sam, what’s your role at YuKonstruct?
I’m a volunteer and a member.
How did you get involved?
I had a project (a Raspberry Pi web server) on display at YuKonstruct’s Kick-Off Event
Why did you join YuKonstruct?
I joined because it’s my home away from home and because of the nice people and cool tools. I love the laser cutter and the 3D printers.
What is it like being one of YuKonstruct’s youngest members?
Being one of the younger makers doesn’t really change much. I can use the tools (when supervised) and I can still make things.
What do you like to make?
Hard question, I like to make anything and everything. Once I get comfortable with one medium I move on!
Why should people become YuKonstruct members?
I think you should become a member so that you can unleash your creativity and make that thing you always needed!
What sort of things can teenagers do at YuKonstruct?
Teenagers can do a lot as long as they are supervised. They can use pretty much anything they are trained on and supervised on. They can take training, workshops and anything a regular member could do.
