Meet the Makers: Logan

Meet the Makers is a series of interviews to help you get to know the awesome folks who are building our makerspace.

If you’ve used any of YuKonstruct’s tools, you likely have Logan to thank for fixing them or keeping them running.

Logan, what’s your role at YuKonstruct?
Facilities manager, I deal with most of the paperwork and try to keep the equipment working. I like the equipment a lot better than the paperwork.

What do you like most about YuKonstruct being up and running?
All the equipment! I’m a tool junkie at heart, so I love having all the industrial equipment available. Oh and the people! It’s really great to be around builders and makers all the time.

What do you like to make?
Things ! Big things, little things, things that do stuff, things that move, things that look pretty, things that feel nice when you touch them, things that hold things, things that make things, all things!

What has been your favourite project so far?
A friend and I made a 45 ft wooden cow a few years ago. It was vaguely cow looking in the end. We filled it with pallets and straw and then shot flaming arrows at it. Good times.

What inspires you to make things?
Most of my bigger projects have been the result of ridiculous conversations with friends about wild ideas, and then I start thinking about them. “Hmmmm you know, we could actually do that”

What are you working on now?
An electric dirt bike, an opensource tractor, getting our plasma table across the border, getting a sheared bolt out of a skidoo, the list goes on and on.

Join us on Tuesdays for our Open House from 7:00 to 9:00 pm to meet other makers and take a tour of YuKonstruct!
