Jennifer has worked in private, public industries both in all three territories and in southern Canada, and during that time she has been a designer, and owner and a contractor.  She has always been good at thinking in innovative ways and problem solving business solutions that add value. She is  creative and practical and being part of and understanding the sharing economy a little more is important toher.

Treasurer

Christopher has a strong background in technology commercialization as he has worked in this field for 20 years. He also has experience as a management consultant where he developed business and financial plans for organizations, and aided not-for-profits in board governance. He has been using YuKonstruct to build a backyard shed, as well as some other smaller projects such as planter beds, a picnic table, bird houses, and some indoor furniture. He’s looking forward to going beyond the wood shop and possibly contributing to the Hackerspace and the electronics resource area.

Graeme works at the Whitehorse Public Library and has done various volunteer work here in Whitehorse including being on the YHMA board, and the Aikido Yukon Board, and helping organize the Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life and the Wishmaker Walk.

Mary Ellen has worked in architectural design and project management in Montreal, Vancouver, Anchorage, and now Whitehorse (since 2005).

Bob is a passionate Yukoner with many skills. He knows his stuff in the wood shop and always looks forward to sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm for building.

Not just our bookkeeper, Tanya also shares her in-depth knowledge of not-for-profit administration and management. Before becoming a self-employed bookkeeper, she was General Manager of Whitehorse’s Nakai Theatre. She is a maker too; she’s been designing and making jewellery for over 20 years.

Curtis is an entrepreneur and graduate of the Challenge Disability Resource Group’s program. He provides janitorial services for cospace and the makerspace on Wednesdays.

Seamus is a senior software developer and hardware hacker.  Seamus enjoys using technology to make life easier and enjoyable: from plant watering systems to Christmas and Halloween displays.

Colin is a hobby woodworker and one of the founding members of the Yukon Woodworkers Guild. He has taught and organized courses at YuKonstruct and is always happy to help out members who want to make shavings in the wood shop.

Andrea has been a supporter of Yukonstruct since the Kick-Off Open House. She has designed a number of art projects for the laser cutter which have been well received in the community. She was a regular site moderator on Wednesday evenings and is always keen to see what her fellow Yukonstruct members are creating and collaborating on!

Alex has been learning about anything and everything at YuKonstruct to be able to have a well rounded knowledge base on how to use all the equipment and the different applications. You may see Alex working on his ambulance camper conversion or behind a camera photographing different projects.

Lea-Ann is an emerging artist with a BFA in Intermedia-Cyber Arts from Concordia University. She is a process artist and a mother of three boys. She likes to keep her interests and the material qualities of her work very broad. She loves learning new techniques, from computer software, programming, video production, electronic art, projection, performance, interactive art practices and craftsmanship.

Thomas is always working on a project. When he’s not busy making telescopes, you can find him building all kinds of things such as an electric guitar, a cloud chamber or even a wooden clock. Thomas works as a software developer by day but trades the computer for wood working tools at home. He learned most of his skills thanks to the internet and he’s more than happy to share what he knows with other makers.

James’ day job sees him designing and drafting civil infrastructure, but he spent 8 years roofing and is very comfortable in the wood shop. You can also catch him behind the lens of his camera. He is always willing to lend a hand with projects when he is the site moderator.
